First Quarter GDP Jumps 1.3 Percent

In an initial estimate, Mexico's first-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) jumped 1.3% from the previous quarter, almost double the 0.7% rise in the fourth quarter of 2011.  GDP in the first quarter was up a strong 4.6% from the same period one year earlier.

March Industrial Production Rebounds

Mexico's March industrial production jumped 1.6%, erasing the revised 1.4% decline in February and marking the strongest monthly gain since early 2010. Output in March was up 3.1% from the same month one year earlier.
